What this site knows about you.

This site sets no cookies. It does not track you across other sites, and it does not build a profile of you. The only personal data it ever asks for is an email address, and only if you decide to type one in.

Who is responsible

The controller of everything described here is a Hungarian sole trader — me, registered under my legal name rather than the one on the logo.

The newsletter

If you subscribe, two things are stored: your email address and which page you subscribed from. The second one exists so I can tell which writing is worth doing more of. Nothing else is asked for and nothing else is kept — no name, no company, no country.

The legal basis is your consent, given by submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect anything that happened before.

The list is held by MailerLite, who process it on my behalf and send the emails. Your address stays there until you unsubscribe, which is one click at the foot of every email I send. You can also just ask me and I will remove you.

Keeping the form usable

The subscribe form is open to anyone, so it has to be defended from bots. There is a hidden field that only an automated script would fill in, and a limit on how many times the same address on the internet can post the form in a minute.

That limit needs your IP address, so the server holds it in memory for one minute and then forgets it. It is not written to a log and it is not stored anywhere. When a subscription succeeds, the only thing recorded is which page it came from — never the email address itself.

The form is also checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, which decides whether a submission came from a person. It sets no cookie and does not build a profile of you, and you will almost certainly never see it — it only draws anything on screen if it needs you to confirm you are not a machine.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting and the subscribe endpoint runs on Google Cloud in Europe. Like any web server, these produce request logs that include IP addresses, and Google keeps them under its own policy. The legal basis for that is legitimate interest: a site that cannot be operated or defended cannot be served at all.

Analytics

Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not follow you to other sites. What I see is aggregate: which pages were read and roughly where readers came from. I cannot tell who you are from it, and neither can anyone else.

Video

Where a video appears, what you see at first is an image served from this site. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you press play. If you do, the player is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com and from that moment Google's own terms and privacy policy apply to that player.

What you can ask for

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask for it in a portable form, object to it being processed, or ask for the processing to be restricted. Write to me and I will do it — there is no form and no process to go through.

If you think I have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, NAIH.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no version history worth keeping for a page this short.

The build notes

Every decision that costs real money or real time.

I'm building and selling my own products alongside client work. Every decision that costs real money or real time goes into an email: what I chose, what I passed on, what it cost, and what actually moved the numbers.

I don't send it on a fixed schedule. I send one when there's something worth sending.
